I have always been drawn to what lies beneath the surface.

I’m Debora, the artist and founder behind Cloud Rhine.

My path has never been a straight one. I studied mechanical engineering, earned a PhD, and built a career in product development. I have lived in different countries and learned to find my way in unfamiliar places.

And throughout all of it, I kept painting.

Art has been part of my life for more than twenty years. I also studied classical piano — another discipline that taught me to pay attention to atmosphere, rhythm, space and the things that can be felt before they can be explained.

These ideas continue to shape my work.

A sound can change the atmosphere of a room.
A landscape can change the way we breathe.
A color can bring back a memory.
A space can make us feel held or restless.

This is what I explore through Cloud Rhine: the relationship between nature, perception and the spaces we inhabit.

We spend much of our lives in spaces designed to function, perform or impress. I believe they can do something more.

They can give something back.

My paintings bring fragments of the natural world indoors — not as literal representations of landscape, but as places for perception, imagination and pause.

I work with soft ambiguity and heavy texture, allowing the image to remain partly unresolved. What is left undefined gives the viewer room to enter the work with their own memories, associations and stories.

Cloud Rhine was born from my relationship with the landscape around my home in Switzerland, where the Rhine and the mountains have become an important part of how I see and experience the world.

Nature is not merely decoration.
Creation is not merely scenery.
It is testimony.

This is my way of bringing a little of that experience indoors.
